Baltic Hermétique Tourer review

I saw the Instagram posts about Baltic's new everyday watch and it did pique my attention but I was leery about importing a watch from the EU, as I have no idea how the taxes will work out (hence why I didn't buy a CW or Farer. UK taxes, urghh.)

Then I saw that a local watch store is carrying Baltic as a brand and they have the Hermétique (actually at the time of purchase more like will have as I bought one pre-order). Decided why not and here we are.

Let's talk about the watch. I love the thinness, its size, shapely lugs and the dial colour and layout. Superb. Bought Baltic's flat link bracelet in case I want to dress it up.

The cons, I have only two things that I wish Baltic changed. It can be a bitch to wind the watch. If you noticed, the Hermétique's crown is recessed into the watch. Makes the line clean and symmetrical but I wish they had figured out a way to make it easier to wind instead of doing the Seiko shuffle or putting it on on a winder.

The second thing is just my gripe but I wish the rubber strap it comes with is a bit longer. I have a 18cm wrist and I was only left with 2 adjustment holes on the strap. As someone whose wrist suffer from gout flareups 2 adjustment holes is just not enough.

So, final words? Awesome watch with a crown that's a bitch to wind and a strap that is genuinely nice (supple as heck) but can be limiting for those with larger wrist sizes. In short, it's French alright. There's always something to gripe about.

Edit: sorry, I got bit by the idiot bug. Should've put this on the review section, not the NWA section, I already did that a week ago! My bad, my bad.

  • Thin, light and manageable lug to lug length
  • Very legible dial
  • Good lume
  • A bitch to wind the movement because of recessed crown
  • Short straps might be a turn off for those with wrist larger than 7 inches

Great concise and informative review! Is the dial and it's applied markers as great in person as in pics? How is the lume?

Very cool watch. I like the design of the recessed crown but yeah just assumed it would be difficult to wind or set time. Still very nice.

How is the dial color in-person. I've seen some pictures where the green covers across a bit flat (personally, I would choose the green, too), whereas the blue really looks like it pops in Bruce Williams' review. What has your experience been?

Hence why I picked the colour. Like you said, it can look a bit flat which helps me to wear it as an everyday watch. If I want to dress it up, the bling on the bracelet is enough to elevate the whole package.

Exactly. Best to avoid unnecessary import duties or what not.
