First 'vintage' acquisition

Stumbled upon a well-loved Seiko 7545-8010 in a charity shop, with a new crystal and Quartz battery it cleaned up quite nicely! See before and after pictures.

The attendant explained it was donated after a late father left it to their children amongst their personal belongings.

Intruiged by the idea that this watch was well worn and valued in another life, and that it's journey can continue in my collection.

I consider this my first vintage watch for the above reason. Some would say a watch from 1978-79 is not truly vintage, but being born in 1995 it seems like another world to me!

In short; continuing to discover that the story can make a watch far more appealing than features or design.

I have a very similar one, the same year and design with a gray dial. It was my grandfather’s until he passed. You just inspired me to put a new battery in it. Nice find.

Thats a lovely watch, enjoy it! Could you tell me where you sourced your crystal from? I have a few old watches that could do with new ones and I have no real idea where to look.

The first watch I ever bought myself, manufactured in May 1977 and bought new. Silver dial with a very subtle sunburst pattern. Original band was replaced with a better aftermarket one when the clasp wore out and the crystal was recently replaced but my watchmaker warned that he may not be able to source another one in the future due to its age.

Love to hear that, I think it's an elegantly simple design

I confess no great research by me, I used Repairs By Post www.repairsbypost.com. They didn't detail where they get theirs from

That band looks really good on yours! It seems I have the original on this one and it's not the most comfortable, might go down a similar route...

Just got the battery swapped out and figured I’d share. I think I like the lack of the day on yours a lot but this thing is great! Definitely my wear for today.

The size of the window definitely changes the overall feel of the dial. I've never seen that dial colourway though, thanks for sharing!
