Happy with my field watch? A review of the Boderry Voyager.

Jumped on the hype train a while back and bougt the cheapest titanium automatic watch out there. Have had it a couple of months and it's gotten some wrist time. Not as much as I was expecting though.

I did watch as many reviews as I could on YT to get a feeling of the quality. It's a competent watch, no doubt. Seiko movement, titanium case and a sapphire crystal. 100 meters of water resistance thanks to a screw down crown.

I chose the version with a black single-pass NATO strap.

Let's start with the strap. Rather thick and stiff. It doesn't bend very well and the result is that the watch sits unevenly on my wrist. Looks a bit wonky. So I replaced the strap with a thinner one. It definitely sits better now.

But yet, the watch doesn't get choosen in the morning. I simply don't like the looks of it. The angeled crown bothers me. The lug width is to big with 22 mm. The lugs themselves are a bit to long. The overall aesthetics of the watch doesn't do it for me. The sand blasted finish on the case is really nicely done. It really adds to the aesthetics of a supposedly utilitarian style watch. I highly doubt I'll go to war with it. But with the current state of the world, who knows.

The dial is actually really nice. Good visibility and not too cluttered. The hands match the style of the watch really well. The date complication isn't really needed imo. but doesn't bother me. The name voyager though? It's a field watch not a maritime one.

A good value watch if you are looking for a field watch in titanium. And like the looks.

This one will go out on the used watch market soon however. A gem in the hands of someone that appreciate the aesthetics, but not for me.

And this is why I never got a Bertucci.

I hear you. My search for the perfect field watch continues.

I do see that the date aperture and the crown both were placed at a precise 4 o'clock as opposed to the willy-nilly placement sometimes seen.

I really thought on getting one of these for myself, but I knew I’d have the same feeling you do, I didn’t really like the looks of it. For a field watch, it had way too much case and lugs and way too little… dial? Didn’t seem well compensated, so I let it slide. Good review!
