Was about to post a review of a new watch. But when hitting the Post button I was prompted with a message stating that the field needed to be at least 1500 characters.
Is it a bug? Or is it a requirement to use 1500 chars in a review text? Curious.

I guess it stops people writing reviews like:
“I spent all my pennies on a new watch and it’s good because I really like it.”

I guess. On the other hand, a good review will get tons of interactions and good visibility. And vice versa a bad review will get little attention.
I can't really understand editorial constraints like this - most of us aren't professionals reviewers.
1500 words is practically a book. Even just reading, I don't have that kind of attention span. 😮

It’s 1500 characters, including the spaces.
At an average of 4 characters per word that’s about 375 words
So, if you write about a brief intro, then about the dial, case, hands, movement and strap, and a summary, that’s about 50 - 60 words for each.

Ah. I see. If I had a better attention span, I'd've noticed that. It was the abbrev. to "chars" that befuddled me. 🙄

Ummm… it’s not abbreviated…

OP says "Is it a bug? Or is it a requirement to use 1500 chars in a review text? Curious." I don't think I even read the title. Maybe I have ADHD?

I stand corrected 😁
It's a good number and it looks like most people exceed it by far.

My background as a coder made me write char(s). 😀
1500 characters stops the “I spent money on it, I have no basis of comparison, five stars” type of reviews.
