Working in Record time

Had my Grandads long service award watch since he passed in 1999 and I've never worn it.  It was for 35 years service and I am now in my 35 year with the organisation I work for, so in tribute, I'll wear it now and again.

He never wore it much either, so it's in very good condition.

The maker is Record and I think the watch is from approx 1960, before the company were bought by Longines.

such a lovely and immaculate timepiece! what a good way to pay tribute to your grandad and also celebrate your work contributions! :)

That’s a real jem indeed

That's a beautiful watch. You should wear it as often as you can.

Wow — what a great memory shared and suddenly realising: they just don't seem to make 'em like they used to

Enjoy that splendid time-piece as often as you desire. it's also a great way of sifting out the riff-raff at the water cooler! Anybody who actually notices and asks deserves to learn the wonderful backstory and if they're truly worthy, gets to see the inscription on the reverse. 💚🐸

What a great watch and story. I’ve inherited a very similar one which I believe is from 1969. It is running but is in need of a service. It uses the Record 4111 movement. Out of interest, how long does your watch run for when fully wound?
