Oh yes, I embarrass myself like this regularly. I've learned that complimenting someones blue dial fluted bezel Datejust rarely goes well.

Yep, had one very fun interaction when I saw an MB&F on the tube! Guy was psyched and happy to show it off. He was actually a friend of Max Büsser as it turned out 😂
Pro tip: don’t do the same thing on the tube with Rolexes. They’ll think you’re about to mug them for it!
This is exactly the response I get from strangers. 😂 I asked my new doctor if he was wearing a Citizen Promaster (which I know darn well it was, but I was just feeling him out to see if he was a watch guy), and he gave that same answer, verbatim. Just last week, I asked a pilot who was jumpseating on our flight about his Seiko turtle, and he answered "Huh? Oh, yeah. Well, it's a PADI." I was not wrong, it was still a turtle. 😑 I should just keep my mouth shut.
