Revue watch

Hey everyone,

I know this might be a long shot.

I found my 3xGreat grandfathers pocketwatch (my grandmother had saved it and wrote it on a note that she got it from him)

Its a Revue pocket watch, but I’m having difficulty dating it, is there anyone able to help me?

The serial number on the inside is 3527060

I don’t have anything else to go from.

My grandmother was born in 1938, and according to her note she received it from her great grandfather (I would’ve asked her but she just passed away)

What was a 3xGreat grandfather's birth/death years?

Also, I'm assuming this was the 1800's and during that time it was SOP to buy a case and then have an off-the-shelf movement put in it. The serial number pictured looks to be on the case. Is there something on the movement itself?

It is a great looking watch and a great story to go with it.

In most cases, the case and watch (movement, dial, hands) were separate things from separate places ordered and/or assembled by seller. So the case number likely pertains solely to the case. If you have a case knife, the case back should pop off fairly easily to reveal movement, which should offer some better information. There's probably a little groove if you eyeball the seam carefully.
