Pocket watch

I'd like to buy a nice pocket watch for my old man. Any good suggestions? I'm liking the Omega and Longines pocket watches. Maybe you guys have some more nice tipa!

My kids got me a pocket watch once. Thankfully is was a cheap one as no one ever uses them. He will be happy for the gift though. I would recommend an inexpensive one if that's the direction your going in. Your going to get a good reaction for the gift no matter what the value.

I'd say your dad is lucky. I'm a big fan of Omega pocket watches myself. This one's being serviced now:

If you think your father will use the watch regularly, you might want to consider getting it serviced for him. If a vintage watch hasn't been professionally serviced in a long time, running it can cause the accumulated grime and dried grease to gum up the movement, and the resulting repair might be expensive. That's not an issue if the watch isn't going to be running.

If your father is still working, he might be interested in keeping the watch in a stand on his desk instead of carrying it in his pocket. I do that with my grandfather's Bulova. Winding it every morning is a nice ritual to start the day.

Really nice suggestions, thank you! Will keep this in mind. Loving both your pocket watches btw.

i would recommend a Waltham 620. Very nice 15j  watch and very affordable.  I haven’t  had to adjust the time on mine in 2 months. Not bad for being 114 years old.
