Rocking my grandad’s 80s Seiko Ana-digi. The lcd screen bled a long time ago. It still alarms when he would head home from work every day at 5:27 pm. He’s 84 this year and marvels at the fact that I love his old work watch!
Surely there is a way to turn of the alarm blind should one so desire. So basically all the digital toys are inaccessible but the main event of time is still there?

Exactly. I believe it should also have a date function in there somewhere!
Sounds awesome! I would not try to fix it, nor would I try to disable the alarm. Let it roll, as is. It's not about the watch, it's about the father and son connection, a family legacy, a shared love of the horological. 😎 Cheers! 🍻
P.S.What watch does he wear, currently? Whatever it is, you should get one of the same model (maybe a different color, if ya like) so you can pull off the father-and-son-matchy-matchy thing! 🤣 My son and I do that; whenever he wears his Casio Arnie, I wear my Casio Duro. Whenever he wears his Invicta Pro-Diver, I wear my Invicta Sub-Aqua. 😎 It's a lot of fun to share my love of watches with him. 😀

He has a basic Seiko solar watch. Nice steel grey dial. His watches are tools and he gets amused by my reverence for his old pieces

Those were popular, and one used to see them often. Once in a while I see one out in the wild, a little beat up but still serving.
