So yesterday I went to the dentist for a routine check. My dentist is a watch guy so we always talk and compare watches for a bit. His daily is a Tudor Black Bay 36 and I was wearing the Sinn 556i, which he'd never seen in the metal before.
I mentioned I was on the waiting list for an Explorer when he told me the AD had called him not long ago with a steel and gold Daytona that he'd been on the list for for about a year and a half. He said he'd forgotten all about it when they called, but decided to decline the purchase because he just "couldn't justify spending ~$20k." He pulled up the Omega Constellation Globemaster in gold he's got his eye on now. A ~$23k watch.
Such is the madness of watch collecting 🤣.

Well, if there's one hobby where beauty (and value) are in the eye of the beholder, Its watches.
Dentists know the price of gold. (I have some gold dental work) I bet there's more real gold in the Omega than the Rolex. Maybe he couldn't justify spending that much for a gold bezel and some links, but a solid gold case, that has value.
