The Girard Perregaux Casquette is the coolest thing to ever exist ever (until I change my mind or see something cooler)

What's cooler than a monkey riding a tricycle? Not much, really. Jeremy Clarkson providing commentary of said monkey riding said tricycle would be a lot cooler, but I think that the Girard Perregaux Casquette is even cooler. Just look at it! Look! It looks like a car's dashboard and something I can't be bothered to try and think about or draw comparison to had a baby.

I found out about this model when browsing old Girard Perregaux models on Chrono24. I've mentioned it before, but I'm on the hunt for a birthday/Christmas present to myself which is, surprise surprise, a watch. My budget is strictly not a hair more than 500 USD equivalent, but fret not, I'm not asking for suggestions. With my budget, I can afford about 0,11 average Casquettes. In other words, I can afford some Gyromatic models or some quartz models. I'll make a series of posts about each contender in my budget big-brand big-boy watch shootout (that's what I'm calling it) when I actually buy one. I'm still trying to "stack my bread" and find out how not to get taken advantage of with import duties.

With that out of the way, just look at it. It's beautiful. It doesn't use hands, it uses LEDs, like my motorcycle's lights or an air-frier, except that it uses red LEDs, which are far cooler. I'd love to hold one and push its buttons. I think it'd suit me so well. I think I found my first vintage grail. Does anyone actually talk about the Casquette or is it some sort of obscure underrated model? I wouldn't know either way, because the last time I spoke about Girard Perregaux was at a Breitling and Longines retailer in 2022, which went like: something something Laureato something something Royal Oak words sample text words GP ululating something something else expensive.

Here's where I stole the pictures from:

There's always the Bulova Computron.

I really need to see somebody using one of these side-viewers. They seem really unintuitive to me, like one has to adopt a stilted pose to use them. Couldn't a tilted mirror have made some sort of more natural front projection?

The bracelet on the black one fascinates me though. I want to know way more about that.
