Longines Spirit

This is for the Longines Spirirt owners out there. I have one in 42mm. I bought it used on Chrono 24. The watch is in good shape but does anyone else have a loud rotor? I can hear when I move the watch around. I have seen on forums that it is not uncommon for this movement. But I feel a watch at this price it should be more refined. Does anyone else have this issue and should I be concerned? Thanks

Hi I own a Hydroconquest with L888.2 ( non COSC but same structure as 888.4 ) movement and don't hear it a bit, totally silent. This is not normal for Longines quality, had 3 so far, one L615 ( 2982-A2 base modified ) and another with L633.5 ( 2824-2 base modified ) and all were silent, running around COSC specs

I had the 40mm version and never noticed any rotor noise. Only movement I hear that with is the Miyota 9 series tbh.

No noise on the 37mm.

Take it into a watchmaker or a Longines AD and let them advise

I’ll have to see what my local ad says then.

I'll check my Zulu Time later. Pretty sure I can't hear the rotor though

It depends a bit on what you mean, I own the 37mm, won't normally hear the noise during normal use, but if I take it in my hand and swing it a bit (done it right now) I can definitely hear it.

It doesn't disturb me though. I little mechanical noise reminds me I'm wearing a mechanical object.

Sure. Just ran across this in researching the Longines Spirit or Master Collection as a future dress watch. Interested in what you find out.

Yep, can confirm that if I hold the watch to my ear and give it a shake, I can hear the rotor. It does need to be close to the ear though.

That is the same for me. It seems to be a 50/50 split on who has a noisy rotor and who does not.

I hear my Zulu Time but only when I whirl it around rapidly near my ear. Doesn’t bother me because I don’t normally whirl it around near my ear…😂
