Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
In 2018 after years of wearing big gaudy watches a simple question arose in my brain...why are Rolex watches expensive? Well I decided I'd Googled it and since then it's all a blur. Just watches and memories 😎
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
The first watch I remember buying was a all gold day date I bought from a fine salesman on the streets of NY while shopping on canal street. The gentleman had watches and also sold women hand bags at a fraction of the cost. I remember asking is this real and assured me that it was indeed authentic. Wow What a steal!
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
So I was never handed down a watch from my father like all the great stories we hear and read about. In fact the poor soul might have sold it before gifting me something like that😭 Anyway since I'm the only weirdo who collects watches in my family, my grandfather would always say to me "I have a lot of watches in the closet". This is coming from a man who will throw out anything he finds is junk, whether that be a box with all your favorite childhood super Nintendo games or one of my grandma's family photo album(True story smh). Well one day he came and showed me these watches and told me I could have them. Included in the bunch were 2 small Mechanical female watches a Vulcain and 2 Timex watches from the 70s. Both Timex watches still are running. One is a Timex Marlin with a purple dial that still is wearable today IMHO. Very special because he passed that down and doesn't even know how much it meant to me. For him it was just junk.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy one special piece(doesn't have to be pricey) bond with it for a while and just wait and learn about the hobby before buying another piece.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Not sure I have one
