The movement was adjusted by a watchmaker in 5 positions: crown up, crown down, 12 up, 12 down and case down. The balance wheel and escapement behaves slightly differently in each position because of the apparent "force of gravity" on it, so it makes sense to adjust the movement in different positions, so the movement has the smallest possible average error in tick-tocking while you are wearing it and inadvertently exposing it to different vectors of the apparent gravity.
