Small Seconds vs. base: A Panerai Conundrum.

Hey gang!

I'm in the market for my first Panerai and I'm torn between the PAM111 (small seconds) and the PAM 112 (base). Same goes for the titanium versions PAM177 (small seconds) and the PAM176 (Base Ti).

Obviously this is all subjective, and I'm fully aware of that, but I'm genuinely curious, which do you all prefer and why so?

Thanks in advance watch fam!

I like small seconds, I like to see that the watch is running

Yeah that is one reason I am slightly leaning towards small seconds, but it's still hard to choose haha. Thanks man!

Small seconds for me, but you should know my first Panerai was a base logo model.

Thanks man! So what made you want Small seconds after owning the base?

I had three Panerai watches at the same time including my first, the base logo. I sold all three and bought the 10 Day GMT (PAM270). Since most Panerai watches have the same look I figured multiples were not necessary.

I was picking up a Tudor GMT few years ago from

a major Canadian super store that sell a lot of different brands but not all locations carry all the brands, two young sales professionals had a lot of experience selling Panerai at other boutiques companies, etcetera. The brand catalogue is quite confusing to the uninitiated so I ask the two for the best model for the guy who just wants one Panerai they both suggested 111 small seconds. It is ok but I think one of the Submersible might have been more interesting. This is not a complaint rather an observation Panerai watch prices are massively inflated. That happens to be an opinion even from fans and folks who sell them for a living. Unless you have decided with total conviction you might visit a boutique to try a few on keeping in mind the ones you have already researched

Small second titanium would be my choice 100%. Panerai is a great watch. Good luck.

·

I would go with a small second, it's a sporry watch it is nice to have some movement on the dial + it doesn't make the warch any less readable. Enjoy deciding :)

I’m also for the small seconds! Like you, I’m hoping to add a Panerai to my collection. Happy hunting! 🤙❤️

Small seconds for me

·

Just bought a PAM01384, I think. Well I pre-ordered it. Radiomir with the small seconds. I still need to see a third hand so I know the damn thing is wound.

Late to this thread but my preference is the small hands subdial which Panerai nails perfectly. The one on my radar is the Luminor PAM422! Happy hunting❤️🤙🤞
