Tudor BlackBay 58 blue one year review

The best things in life happens when you expect them the least.

A year ago, a shiny blue watch on display caught my eyes at an AD. Right away I felt excitement but at the same time my head started twisting as it was processing what is about to happen.  There it was, a blue Tudor Black Bay 58 roaring for attention in complete silence. And the rest was history…

One year later, I am reporting my experience  back. The Black bay 58 proportions are spot on and how the watch sits on the wrist is amazingly done. Owning and wearing it almost everyday was a joy. The watch gives you a reassuring feeling that it will take on whatever your day will throw at it. The watch has some kind of “sprezzatura” it doesn’t try hard to grab the attention for itself, instead, it enhances your overall look in a very subtle way. It’s as if the watch is an extension of the body and not its own thing.

The blue one specifically will age better than the black one. Those white indices and hands will become yellowish with time more organically. The bezel action feels very sturdy and sounds great. The movement winding is smooth, you feel the quality there, with that new In-house movement. The light plays the dial in a very subtle and elegant way making legibility very easy. The bracelet is very comfortable and attractive to the eye. As matter of fact, the first comment my wife had about the watch was that she loved how the bracelet looked. However, the lack of micro adjustment on the fly is still left to be desired.

In conclusion, the Black Bay 58 will be a problem for Tudor. The watch was executed so well to a point it did set the expectations too high in every aspect. It’s a good problem to have, as it will push the Tudor designers to out do themselves for the betterment of the brand and the benefit of us enthusiasts. If you are looking for a watch that can easily be the one watch that you will actually wear everyday, then look no further. This watch will be your life companion for a long time to come.

It is my understanding that the on the fly bracelet on the new Ranger will fit the 58

I agree that the design of the BB58 is very unique, and more or less has recently defined Tudor. Pretty much any new design will have a hard time, because of the BB58 comparison.

that would be nice! I saw a YouTube video someone tried to switch the BB 58 bracelet with the BB pro bracelet but didn't work. Also, The T-fit clasp is bigger in size compared the BB58 clasp i am not sure how it will affect the wearability.

Lovely watch. I’m surprised I haven‘t bought a blue dial Tudor up to this point. I saw a BB36 blue dial the other day and almost snagged it. This is another one that’s close to the top of my Tudor list. Such good proportions. I pulled the trigger on a 925 instead because it’s so unique. Enjoy yours in the best of health! 🥂
