Rare Watch for Today: Glycine Combat Sub 39 Gilt

Glycine Combat Sub 39. ETA 2824. Regulated by Glycine. +2 daily. 39mm in width. 30ATM. Thin. 20mm lug. Gilt. Holes case. Superluminova lume. Swiss made. Rare. Discontinued (this fact left a lot angered lol).

Was going to sell it, but now have decided to keep it. Because I have a BB54, I don’t wear this much. I don’t really care for GMTs (or chronographs, pilots), but I may someday add the beautiful Glycine Airman GMT to my collection. That model was one of the first watches in space, something most are unaware of.

Feel free to share your Glycine watches below 👇🏻

Those are such a great value.

That’s nothing short of beautiful. I love a moon phase complication. What a gem.

I enjoyed your reading your shared post. Thank you. Learned some new things

This was a pretty recent addition to my collection: Combat Sub GL0419. Gotta love the slim profile, muted bezel and very striking indices.

Ironically, as a music lover I want to get to stay in Nashville!

I Got mine stolen in England about 5 years ago. So I decided to get something that looked totally different from a submariner, and I like this one even more.

I’d love to have you here! I’m not really into country, so that aspect of Nashville doesn’t do much for me. However, there’s an exception: Johnny Cash. That’s my favorite mucisian. Nashville is a lovely little city.

After seeing Anthony Bourdain (RIP) visit Singapore, which is one of his favorite destinations for food and diverse culture, I’ve always wanted to go. Everyone always talks about Japan and Korea, but Singapore and Tibet are on the top of my list.

Refreshing, unique design. Love that pop of orange. My first ever watch, an Armitron gifted to me in the 5th grade, was stolen. And some nurse stole my cheap 36mm automatic Invicta pro diver while I was at the hospital 😡 That’s very low of someone to steal from a patient

They are very versatile - beater, swimming, or dressed up. Here are my two 42mm Combat Subs.

What's your genuine opinion on glycene? Because I've been thinking of getting one of those watches for a little bit now and I kinda feel like their homage watches but also not at the same time. Just because I rarely hear about them

I love the styling of the 42mm combat subs. I hope Glycine will make those designs in a smaller package. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful prices

I reviewed this Glycine on my YouTube channel, which was a positive review. Video: https://youtu.be/K7JRJVGXaO8?si=LPK49kR_PG7kcZan

I like Glycine a lot. Underrated. This particular watch is well made. I think their best offering is the airman GMT. Their Combat Subs are a great value. I recommend them. Unfortunately the watch I reviewed is discontinued.

Also, the Glycine Combat Sub 39 and 36 is clearly inspired by the BB58 by Tudor; however, they do enough to differentiate it from Tudor. It’s not a blatant copy. Other combat subs appear to be original designs. Some say they look somewhat like Submariners, which is true, but again, unlike offerings from San Martin, among others, Glycine does not make straight up copy homages. They clearly draw inspiration from Rolex and Tudor. And I have no issue with that.

If you want the most original and history rich model from Glycine, the airman is the model to get.

I've been searching for this watch in 39mm for months. I was even doubting these exist

·

It's a shame it's discontinued as I think this is their best watch, the 36 has the same dial configuration but the size puts me off.
