1987 Numa Jeannin Ghurka

I bought this Swiss quartz 1987 Numa Jeannin watch in May of 2023 but never did anything with it because I thought it would be too difficult to open the case with the tools I had, plus with my inexperience I thought I'd tear it up.

I was attracted to the enameled dial, the red and black on white, the seconds at 6:00 and the Breguet hands. What I failed to realize when I bought it was the size, and this one comes in at a scant 31mm. If I had to guess, I'd say this was a ladies watch, and it's the second smallest in my collection.

Information on the brand is scarce and I've not seen another watch like this, model number 45-87. Feel free to chime in if you know anything and would like to share with our fellow Crunchers. 👍 I did find another Numa Jeannin watch with this same information inside the case back but the dial is completely different. Go figure.

Today I decided to see if I could get it apart and working and I did, after robbing a screw off an old Hamilton. Ah, the joy of getting a watch to run! 🎉🥳

Will I wear it? Sure, occasionally around the house since I work from home. Man if this was just a few mm larger...

Cheers! 🍻

Have you tried a different coloured strap? May change the look slightly on size

Haha, I just bought this strap yesterday, delivered today! 😂

You make a good point though, maybe a different strap will beef it up a bit. Could even throw an 18mm single-pass NATO on there (current is 16mm).

Thanks! 👍

I agree a couple mm larger and it would be about perfect

That's a homage to the Omega Museum pilots watch. Love it 😍👏🏻👏🏻

Man. Nice elegant and unique watch!!! All that matters is how it looks on you (as far as size) but I think it looks just great!!!
