Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Grandparents gave me a Zodiac Dive watch when I was 9 years old as my family would all go scuba diving. I was a Jr NAUI diver. Still wish I had that watch, it was lost so long ago I have no memory of losing it. Then again, that is 50 years ago. At age 13, I know everyone will hate me for this, I got a Rolex Sub no date which I still have, though I do not wear except on rare occasion. It was the same as my fathers whom has passed long ago. Then I bought on my own, the watch of Jacques Cousteau (I bet few of you know who that is) an orange Doxa that I sold and regret selling to this day. I will stop there, my life can be mile stoned with watches. Love them.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Zodiac Diver, black dial with unusual markers. The year was 1973, man I am old.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Bought an Accutron 214, loved it, but the humming every night and that it was small looking on my wrist pushed me to sell it - what a mistake. WSomeday I will buy another and pay a hefty premium for it no doubt.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

When you buy you watch, know at some point it will show some wear or get a scratch and even if not at some point you will want another, so budget accordingly.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Casio G-Shock most recently and Seiko / Grand Seiko. I loved many of the Seiko Monsters with day date complication.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Ahh My Grail watch, an Accutron Astronaut Black or White face in NOS or Mint Condition. It represents a time of my youth and a technology not in production with any watch today. It is a great size, not too small like many watches from the era appear to modern taste.
