Seiko SRPG09J1 crown shenanigans

Hey! Im pretty new to watch collecting and own a couple automatic watches, but my most recent purchase. The seiko SRPG09J1 has given me some worrying feedback from the crown. When setting the time(havent really felt at which point this happens) the crown is mostly smooth but when i pass some point it gets considerably slower and much stiffer, almost to the point where it feels like im breaking the mechanism. Has anyone else experienced this and what does it mean?

P.S its not happening during date change and the watch is brand new.

Without knowing specifics, I would stop when you meet resistance, even in an automatic watch. Normally this would happen in a mechanical manually winding watch to signal that the power reserve is fully wound. In this case, it's an automatic but I wouldn't tempt fate, just move the watch around and let the rotor do it's thing instead of hand winding.
