New Tudor Black Bay with METAs movement

I had a brief business trip to Switzerland the other day and was obliged to travel via Luzern due to traffic. I regarded it as a sign to go to the nearest Tudor dealer. ๐Ÿ˜„ And, fortunate me, they already had the latest release in stock. I'm still not sure if it looks better than the previous version though. I prefer the red accent at the crown of the old one. Which do you think is more attractive?

Go with the one you prefer the looks of, which sounds like the old one. We donโ€™t need certifications. I did a similar thing when the new Black Bay no bezel range came out, I preferred the older model, despite its lower spec, and managed to buy one of the last of the smiley faced 41s from an AD at nearly a third off! Itโ€™s in the house but not on my wrist yet โ˜น๏ธ

True that... METAs do not bring much value over COSC. So I'll keep an eye out for good discounts on Gen 2s:) Thanks

The newer in terms of wearability is much more nicer, especially with the thinner case and more rounded lugs. The old one wore like a slab at almost 15mm and this is a big improvement, in line with the 39mm BB58. Much more comfortable and lighter on the wrist.

If the thickness doesn't bother you then you can just pick up a 41mm on the secondary market for a good price before they get discontinued.

@nightfury95, you make an excellent argument. Thickness is not one of my key worries, given that my current daily is a hefty BB Pro. However, I could do with a little lighter while riding a bike. Maybe I should reconsider the whole thing and go back to the Pelagos 39. Did you already have that one on?

I went between the 41mm and 39mm but ended up buying the 39mm BB58. But I don't own the BB58 anymore now. I did prefer the 41mm more for the size as I thought the 39mm felt a little small for my taste but the thickness of the 41mm really put me off especially the way it felt on my wrist. My wrists are quite curved and not flat so the 41mm felt top heavy and so did the BB Pro when I tried it on. Tudor case design to deal with the thickness is still not that great, the slab sides and top heavy cases account for that in their older models.

The new Black Bay really does wear much better, the 41mm felt more proportional this time around. I have the 41mm in my radar now, waiting for more color variants and especially one with a date. The Pelagos 39 is almost a perfect daily watch, a pelagos blue variant would be green light to purchase one.

I slightly prefer the new one on design, but just slightly. The differences there are very small. However, the wear on wrist is a lot better with the new one. I did not like how the old one wore due to the slab sided case. Even the GMT wore slightly better due to some bottom edge beveling on the side of the case. This one wears wonderfully (on my 7.25" wrist) and should be great for those that like large watches or have say a 6.75" wrist or bigger. Small wristed folks will likely want to check out the BB58 or BB54.

Love any splashes of color that will differentiate the piece in a sea of black dive watches. The green Herrod's edition is my personal fav version of the BB58 since its a more muted green

Oh, yes. That is a nice one. Pity, that is so rate to find. Do they still sell them at Harrodโ€™s, or was it a limited run only?
