Review - Best budget field watch?

Well I guess it’s about time I do a review on here. The Timex expedition has been unexpectedly my go to watch for that past few months.I bought this watch as a beater to work in and jsut throw around and unironically it has become one of my favorites in the collection. One if the things that I enjoy the most about the Timex is it’s versatility, this watch can damn near go with any outfit if you buy the right color variation.

But that isn’t even the best part. For me the durability of this watch is where it shines the most. This watch is very tough I mean as the the moto goes “Takes a licking and keeps on ticking” it truly lives up to that, as I’ve been using this as my “work” watch for a few months and it has been bashed, drowned and dropped. And it keeps on ticking like brand new.

I feel another strength of this timepiece is it’s Indeglo dial.Whenever you push the crown in it illuminates the entire dial with with this almost Tealish green tint.Which will damn near illuminate a dark room if you let it.

I even enjoy this watches classic(But very generic) field look that it has. While I do think it doesn’t have a whole lot of character this simple case design does look good even though it is very basic and generic. I think it pairs well with the matte grey and the small pop of color in the yellow seconds hand which would be a great accent for a yellow NATO strap if you wanted.

Now for the Cons

Unfortunately there are few complaints about this time piece.

The first complaint is the quartz movement inside the watch, now I don’t have a problem with quartz movements but this one Inparticular bugs me a bit. While it keeps great time with great accuracy the classic quartz tick is very loud. The ticking noise can be heard from across the room.

Another nit pick I have is the water resistance, The watch has 50M of water resistance which in my opinion could be better considering it is a field watch but I’m willing to look past it as It has survived in water on many occasions.

Well I guess that’s it’s review done.I really think for a watch you can buy under $50 you really can’t go wrong with it!

  • AFFORDABLE! For under $50 this is an amazing watch only thing else that beats it is a Casio
  • INDEGLO! The indeglo is my favorite feature dial could light up a planet if you let it
  • Clean case design
  • The quartz movement makes a very loud ticking that can be heard from across the room
  • The Lume isn’t the greatest but the indeglo dial makes up for it

The beauty of the Timex Expedition is that it's a watch for non-watch people, like you said it just goes with everything, and can go anywhere you go. When it eventually dies, it's cheap enough to toss and buy another one.

One niggle though, I don't get the the whole 50m isn't enough WR thing. It's a "field" watch, not a "sea/lake/pond/river/stream/creek/sound" watch.

50m WR is enough for swimming, washing your hands, humping battle rattle around in the field, etc...

Totally agree with you for non-watch people to go to Walmart and pick one up it’s amazing. The 50m water resistance to be honest isn’t that big of a deal to me just would’ve been nice to have but I agree 50m is definitely enough for what this watch is gonna be used for.

Have this exact watch and love it and it's "Hamilton-esque" vibes! In fact, I'm wearing mine today!
