I was browsing the Island Watch sale section and came across this for $159 (originally these were $290 everywhere). I have wanted a Meca Quartz for some time. 4 tics a second, in a quartz, intrigued me. My preferred size is 40mm for a watch with a bezel. I like 12 hour bezels (for travel). So this watch interested me immediately. I was not aware of this special edition and while I don't have any connection to the Tuskegee Airmen, I liked the look as well as it checked my previously mentioned boxes. (I also have a Citizen Blue Angles Nighthawk and no connection to the Blue Angels - I just like the look). I'm very pleased with my new AVI8. Love the textured dial. It comes with a leather strap that I find very comfortable. Also included are a black NATO, additional spring bars, & a spring bar tool.

By the way... In his YouTube review of the watch, Jory Goodman spends 2 minutes talking about how bad the strap is. I don't get it. I find it comfortable and flexible so it won't take weeks to break in. I absolutely concede that Jory knows more about watch straps than me, but I like this one a lot.
Your spitfire looks cool - nice choice
About Jory... I used to subscribe to his channel but I didn't connect with many of his watch opinions either. But when I was looking for reviews of this watch, his review popped up. I mentioned it because I didn't want someone to buy the watch and be disappointed in the strap based on me really liking it.
Thanks for commenting
Just got one myself, love it

I think it looks cool but I haven't timed it or anything.

Did you charged it with UV light or it was regular sunlight charge?
