Giving them away

I am still mulling over the idea of having a drastic cull of my watch collection - despite having just bought two watches. 🙄  Ideally, I would like to get from 31 pieces to either 6 or 12. Twelve seems much more likely.

All my watches were under £500 and most were a lot cheaper.

While I would like to get some money back, I am quite happy for someone else to have them, if they would enjoy them. How do you give watches away?

I feel that if I pop in the charity shop, with an armful of watches, they may think I have just come back from a house breaking job. If I stand in the street and hand them out, I might be carted off to an institute for the terminally bewildered. None of my family are interested. My friends all wear smartwatches or no watches at all. The local pawn shop wasn't interested as they only like high end items. Pawn shops seem to have moved up-market.

I have a horrible feeling that I have posted a question like this before. Age is against me, I'm afraid. Any comments on the question would be welcome. Before you all ring up with your debit card details, I am still only considering a reduction...but I feel I am moving closer to a decision.

I have made one smart move. I used a 12 section box to house my favourites, another 12 box to hold others I am less keen on and put this box away in a cupboard. I have a six box to hold my Casio g-shocks and squares. I haven't missed any of the watches in the cupboard.

If you have younger relatives (brother, sister, nephew, niece, cousin, etc) or children you may mentor, you could pick one that you think they may like and gift it to them. Also, explain why you bought it, and why you thought of them as the next one to wear it. They may think it's super old-school cool and possibly get them into the watch game.
