The tales of a traveling Turtle

I wanted to create this post to just show you don’t need a super expensive watch to enjoy and make memories. I have watches from Casio to Omega but yet most my stories occur with this Seiko Turtle.

The year was 2018 and the popular watches I saw getting attention was the Seiko Turtle SRP777 (now SRPE93), Hamilton Khaki Field and BB58 (which I also own). At this time I really wasn't into watches and the last watch I purchased prior to this one was a Raymond Weil Freelancer 10 years prior.

I had a few extra bucks to spare and I splurged and got the Seiko SRP777, little did I know the Rabbit Hole of watch collecting really just began, even though I did have 2 watches that I owned for 10+ years but just never wore. This Turtle sparked an interest that got me deep into the watch world.

I live in Florida, but have taken this watch on multiple 2000+ mile motorcycle road trips, multiple states in the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and a few countries in Europe. I have gone climbing on ice, zip lining, Kayaking, River Rafting and many other activites while using this watch.

I modded the Seiko with a coin edge bezel with a 12 hour insert. And a GL831 strap which I believe is what used to come in the original Turtles of the 70’s I found realistically the best travel watch has the day, date, and a 12 hour bezel for home time. Most don’t care for the day function on the watch, but I find it essential when traveling for then just a few days.

Below are a few pics, the watch doesn’t show up in all of them but you get the point. I'm not big on taking pictures so most the memories are just in my head.

Does anybody else have a watch they frequently use on adventures and travel, that isn't neccesarily an "expensive/luxury" watch?
