My first real watch was a high school graduation gift from my mom: A Bulova Devil Diver chronograph. It is still with me and has travelled around the world (at least twice), dived an ancient wreck at 100โ+ and been on my wrist for countless static line parachute jumps. 50years later it is still ticking away. Tritium lume is gone and a new friction diver bezel but otherwise a testament to Bulova.
That watch started my exploration of watches. I have a reasonable collection of vintage Bulovas as well as some moderately priced daily drivers. If you added up the value of all of my watches in the collection, you might be able to buy a used 21st century Omega, but probably not. I still enjoy them and enjoy reading about watches and their context in the events of the 20th century.
Best wishes,
