Vintage Timex Marlin (1980) ebay gamble review

This is my first review, and it may interest people who are planning of buying a vintage watch from ebay. English isn't my first language so there might be some writing errors.

Recently i decided to buy a Timex Marlin watch. I wanted something special for my small collection.

I wasn't interested about the reissued watch even if it looked great, but i wanted something that was roughly my age, (thats old).

Started looking ebay for 1968- to 80s timex watch that would have no complications, just showing the time. My plans were that i would use it time to time and any complications would make it harder to set the time and just go. Also clean dial is something that i like personally.

I made couple of offers wich i lost, but after about a week i found watch that looked to be in perfect condition (atleast outside). Seller had excellent record and had sold watches before.

My bid won and i got the watch in my opinion ok price. It cost 25 £ and about the same on shipping and other cost, so total 50 £.

Watch arrived in about week.

Condition of the watch seems to be like new. I even wonder is it real, as watch is 43 years old (made in 1980). Strap is offcourse new.

It's small (34mm) watch and fits perfectly on my skinny wrist.

Inside the watch is M24 wich is mechanical hand winding movement. That was the biggest questionmark about the watch.

In my mind i was ready to tolerate +- 5 minutes a day accuracy. If it would be bigger it would start bugging me eventually and these cheap movements are not worth any maintainance work.

I was suprised that accuracy was about + 60 seconds a day, wich i consider good in this old watch.

If anyone has more detailed information about this watch i would love to hear it. Also do you think that a watch can be in such a good condition after 40 years?
