Tag Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 8

I don’t have a grail watch, however I do have a couple of grail brands and Tag is definitely one of them. I hadn’t thought of getting one for a while but when my favourite AD got this 2011 Grand Carrera GMT in stock and was open to doing a trade for 3 of my watches I had to take it.

I know Tag aren’t the most popular of brands, but I’ve always liked them and this one is great.

Congratulations 🍾

Doesn’t matter if it popular or not. Infact it better when it isn’t. Sometimes i want to be the only one wearing a certain watch ya know?

Real cool watch. I have Calibre 6 which dial wise looks very similar 😎

How does it show second time zone though?

Yep that’s why I mostly buy from microbrands I like that I’m unlikely to see someone with the same watch as me.

Very similar. On mine they’ve simply put a big date at 12 and split the logo and name between the three and six.

I was curious about that as well what you do is you set the second time with the first by rotating the crown clockwise so the hands move forward. You then rotate it anti-clockwise so the hands will move backwards and the second hour marker at the bottom stays still.

Oh, now I see it. Got used that mine just has small seconds represented by this rotating disk, but on yours seconds are shown by traditional hand and the disc is a second time zone. That’s interesting 🧐 enjoying this GMT even more now

That small seconds is a great feature. I hadn’t seen this line before but I really like it.

Woahh, that’s a really cool piece, congrats!!! 🎉

That is a beautiful watch. Love it! Tag has always been good by me.

My second 'luxury' watch was a Tag. That was in 1993. I still have it. And it still runs perfectly. 👍

Thanks that’s great to hear. I’ve been interested in Tag for ages. Always thought I’d get an Aquaracer when it eventually happens but this one grabbed me.

What’s that Tag you got in 93?

Here you are. A 6000 series. Next to my oldest 'I bought brand new' watch, a Concord, which was in 1987.

BTW, lovin' that new dark TH Monaco.

The Night Driver? Yeah that’s a very cool looking watch, bit out of my price range though. Those are two fantastic looking watches thanks for sharing.

TAG is also a grail brand for me. Something about growing up in the 90s/early 2000s. I also love their styling, and they have a solid build quality in my experience. I’ve noticed that most people who go out of their way to let you know that they dislike TAG, have never really handled one. I generally collect older models (1990s) because those speak to me the most, but I do have a modern F1 that I love, despite being an entry level model. Beautiful Carerra!

Great looking watch. Who cares what other people think of the brand.

Agree completely, and getting my hands on this has only made me more of a fan of the brand.

I agree completely and if I’m honest I haven’t seen any hate directed at Tag on here, it’s one of the reasons I’m such a fan of WC.
