New IWC INGENIEUR

Since the press and our friendly YouTubers shouting about the New Ingenieur, I was straight onto on the IWC site for a closure look. Absolutely stunning piece BUT 10 Grand!!! Are they smoking drugs in Schaffhausen ??

If it was 6 grand odd I'd pull thr trigger on this. What you guys think ?

I think it was always going to be stretching to a higher price point than the current model. Listening to an interview with Chris Grainger this morning, and reading between the lines, I don't feel it will be (or is expected to be) as bigger seller as perhaps the Pilot or even Portugieser lines long term, they are clearly happy to stand it up against the Alpine Eagle and a notch higher than the Zenith Defy Skyline and new Bulgari Octo Roma (which looks great) - I suspect finishing and manufacturing quality will be exceptionally high - it's a solid movement and I think a great overall package. Comparatively I don't feel it's wrong to price it above the list price of an Explorer, which is a much more mass produced item I think. Luxury pricing to be expected.

i hear what your saying. i to expect the quality to be right up there. I would love to have one of these in the rotation but for me 10 grand is a bit steep for this 3 hander

Pricing does seem a bit difficult to equate with many brands recently, I guess with luxury goods generally - when you look at the watches I mentioned above there's some challenges - I didn't even mention the £8000 Bremont Supernova!

Looking forward to getting a sense for the watch in the metal. Especially the titanium one looks very technical and interesting. The titanium Alpine Eagles albeit with the 8Hz movement are also pricey and I think people were expecting a lower launch price which has led to some stickershock when seeing the price. Best to always judge a watch once in hand. I initially found the Omega Seamaster NTTD in titanium expensive but at least for me I now find the case details, titanium mesh bracelet and overall watch work really well and worth it's price.

Definitely. I would like to get hands on. The titanium should be supreme

I'm sure it is beautiful, but it is too expensive. They abandon micro-adjust and any type of strap exchange system, reduce water resistance over the previous model and increase the price by $7k. Sure, the upgraded movement, the design, and inflation probably merit a price increase but not $7k. Very disappointed as I was thinking of buying the new Ingenieur when I came out, but I don't see myself purchasing it now.

Yes I feel this way alittle. Mentally I was gonna pocket a new Ingenieur but at 10K it's a steep increase in price.

The steel models are $11,700 (not $10k). The old three-hand Ingenieur model retailed for $5500.

Other price references: new Mark XX on bracelet is $6,150. Big Pilot 43 on bracelet is $9,950.

They are pricing this like a Big Pilot (46mm), which is their flagship model. I guess the market will decide if this is justified, but it's definitely not to me.

IWC makes some incredible watches. I think the value proposition is better in the entry-level models due to the jump in quality (especially if you can get a discount). I just don't see value here for this new Ingenieur. Should have been around $8,000.

I had this exact same thought but then realizing that accounting for inflation from 2005 until now would make the relative pricing at $8,676.56.

At the very least, I could stomach 10k for this, but again, personally, it's a bit too high for me.

The last 3-hand Ingenieur models came out in 2017 although they did not have a Genta design. Not sure where2005 is coming from.

$10k would still be high but not absurd.
