Seiko presage craftsmanship series limited edition review

This is one of the best representations of Seiko's craftsmanship in watchmaking. It is arguably one of the best for its price point. Not only compared to Seiko's own archives, but for those that cost more than 10x or even 100x from their Swiss counterparts. One can argue that this is the best bang for bucks, at least from my own perspective since picking up this hobby over a decade ago. Japanese craftsmanship often draws inspiration from their rich local history, their traditional culture and design, as well as their surrounding natural environment, which changes through the four seasons. In the spirit of "mono-tsukuri" , or "craftsmanship", curiosity in creation and a perfectionist attitude have often helped to achieve superior products that are made in Japan. This iteration is perhaps the best. Not only is it priced higher than the other three variation models, but Shippo enameling is one of the hardest, the most arduous technique that requires dedication and perfection to produce the dials. Of course, no watch is perfect. There is nothing to write home about in terms of the movement and the overall thickness standing at 14.1mm as one of the few imperfections. Although the 6R27 movement runs like a workhorse, it's aesthetically pleasing dial in contrast of the coarse finishing of the exhibition caseback movement turns out to be a real let down. Such a gorgeous timepiece certainly should equip with more technical prowess.

Nevertheless, I cannot fault the watch because one must look into its totality in terms of overall design perspective.

I am still very satisfied with owning this timepiece and I have no reservations in recommending this fantastic SPB399J1 to anyone!

I agree. I really like the craftsmanship line of watches. The dials are spectacular. Let’s just leave it at that.
