Addition to my last post: Can the Sharp Edged scratch the GS itch

First of all: Thanks to all the comments and answers regarding my question if the Sharp Edged series could scratch the Grand Seiko itch.

Many said the same thing, the Sharp Edged is great but the GS is miles better and it won't scratch the itch.

Well maybe i chose the wrong words because i'm totally aware that these watches play in a whole different league, the price tag also confirms that.

What i meant was if the Sharp Edged could give a somewhat similar vibe with its beautiful dial, wearable dimensions, bracelet style, sporty yet elegant looks and the list goes on.

Obviously that ~1000€ watch can't compete with the other watch costing more than 10x(!) the price.

I enjoy seeing the love given to GS and their incredible craftsmanship but right now i'm not willing to pay anything near that amount of money for a watch, also not the quartz options many suggested 🤭

The Sharp Edged would be my most expensive watch by far yet so maybe i was to optimistic when i compared it with GS, i try to not make the same mistake again 😁✌️

If what you're after is the dial, it's quite possible that it will scratch your itch. Although, the detail sure won't be as good, but it won't be too noticeable with a naked eye.

If what you're after is the movement, try to look at other Seiko Pressage, some of them have spring drive too

SNR037, as example.

There are more Seiko Prospex with spring drive too.

In that case I would say go for the Sharp Edge. You will like the watch.

See the watch in person. Quite a few colors to choose.

I have the Sharp edge GMT and I understand your question. Yes GS is a much higher caliber of watch. But Sharp edge is much much much better than you can expect at this price. I believe you can be happy with it.

If you have a budget for the GS go for it but if not Sharp edge is very good.

Personally for me, the itch that I wanted to be scratched was the accuracy of the watch and that glide with the seconds hand which is what I feel makes a Grand Seiko a Grand seiko. But as someone above me has said, if all you’re looking for is dial and won’t be bothered by the lack of lost time due to movements that are getting worse with every new seiko movement, the presage line will deffo scratch the itch :) But if a Grand Seiko is what you want, I suggest saving for it :) Pre-Owned is amazing!

Comparing two different watches on such a wide divide isnt probably the best est thing to do. I want a GS too, but i cant afford it, but theres plenty other watches out there that i can and that i like. Get what you like and what you can afford. Thats the watch game,,i think?

The GS is a grail watch for me, but so was my willard,,two completely different watches at completely different prices but gives me just as much joy.

One day ill get a GS, ill sell one or two of my kids or my left lung, but until then love what you have on your wrist 👌👌

This is the most Grand Seiko-esque watch I've come across. The dial could pass for Grand Seiko, and the case finishing is among the best for the price. It can be had for around $700. BTW, I also own the SBGA413 pictured, so I've lived with both. No, the Citizen isn't GS, but I can see it scratching the itch.

I love all models shown in this feed,I think the problem when you see something you like and try to get something to try and fill the void which is something I've done often I've got the first seiko snowflake dial or one of closet to spring drive model its a quartz qt,I've got a seiko tank I did once own a rotary reverso list goes on 🤣🙄they never cured the want for the more expensive versions because it wasn't them I owned but they were and are apricated the same regardless, get the sharp edge love it and one day sit the cherry blossom down next too it in your watch box 👍
