I work as Video Producer/Host/Musical Artist for Higher Ground, a YouTube music series & several other online video projects. I am the video/game production Crew Chief for the Florida Everblades minor-league hockey club (back-to-back ECHL Kelly Cup Champions) at Hertz Arena in SW Florida. I'm also the House Tech for major touring concerts at the same venue. My passion for watches began a few years ago with the purchase of my first "quality" watch (Orient Ray). My latest watch is the Bulova Lunar Pilot 43mm.
I always had cheap, functional watches, but about 5 years ago I really started to appreciate quality watches. I purchased an Orient Ray and loved it. Still do. That was my first step down the path of the watch collecting hobby.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
My father gifted me his 1970s Timex Marlin when I was a teen in the 80s.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Find your own personal style. Buy watches you enjoy and that you think look good on your wrist, regardless of what others suggest, and don't just buy a watch because of the "every collection needs a [blank]" advice you will hear from many collectors. I don't care if it's a sub $100 Chinese watch or Casio, an "affordable value" piece like Orient or Seiko, or a luxury Rolex or Omega...if it suits your style, you can afford it and you enjoy it, that's a watch for you.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Seiko, Sinn, Tudor, Hamilton & Marathon.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. To my eye it is the "perfect" dive watch. Probably unattainable for me (unless there's a winning lotto ticket in my future), but a nice little daydream of one sitting on my wrist is fun if nothing else.
