Selecting and collecting
I recently realized I am not a watch collector. I am a watch selector. I select watches based on what I like. I don’t collect in the sense that acquiring more is the ongoing goal. I unfortunately cannot say the same about Liverpool FC jerseys. I collect those with a scorched-earth fervor and almost zero self control 😑 🤷🏻♂️

I would like to disagree with you. I think a "selector" selects watches without acquiring them. As soon as you start acquiring watches that you selected, you turn into a "collector"
Also, a definition of a collector is "a person who collects things of a specified type." Well, you collect thinks that have 2 main characteristics:
It is a watch.
You must like it.
So, sorry, but you are a watch collector.
Same here don't care about the resale value. Is that a tudor ranger i like that
and here I thought watch Collectors were folks that collected rare, pricey, antique, etc watches.
Me, my watches don't fall into any of those catagories. LOL

However, I now live in Australia and I know many supporters of Premier League teams and although they selected their team, they are very passionate about them.

I remember going to an FA Cup quarter-final game between Liverpool and Brentford at Anfield with my dad in 1989. Bees were then in third division - we lost 4 - 0! The trip and the journey up on the coach has stuck with me though!
