Glad recent watch rotation has my Glycine GL0303 on wrist again. Sporting a grey TDM strap from The Watch Steward in my favorite minimalist configuration.
as someone who hasn't tried a 24hr watch, how long does it take to get used to telling time in that way?
Mega awesome watch, btw
For me, pretty easy. One half is am, the other half of dial is PM. IF this was the Purist version wear the hands actually makes a complete revolution once a day, there's that extended counterbalance end on the hour hand that will point to the corresponding 12-hour equivalent of for some reason one has trouble interpreting time between 13-24.
I also find with a Purist version telling time in such a different way refreshing as the whole visual reference to identify the time at a glance unique and adds that extra bit of something different than just a simple aesthetic change with most other watches.
But, this is the 4-handed GMT version I have, and not the Purist (which I also owned before), and so you read this just like any other typical GMT watch as the hands rotate complete revolution 2x a day as it reads as a normal 12-hour dial.
2. Chief petty officer (CPO) is the seventh enlisted rank (with the paygrade E-7) in the United States Navy[1] and U.S. Coast Guard, just above petty officer first class and below senior chief petty officer.
Click the link below to get a brief description of the history of the chief vintage model on glycine. It's about mid page. Apparently it was a particularly rare watch that I guess was double branded on the dial as well from a boutique way back then.

Whoa! I appreciate the response. I’ll check the link. I really missed out on Glycine, can’t find good examples below 500$ and modern ones are always out of stock. Now sure what Invicta will do to the brand.

I'm taking a stab at the source of The Chief name. But, I think it makes sense.
Yeah, Glycines used to be readily available on a lot of grey market and thus could get for around $500 new. But, most of the older stock are gone.. and overall the prices have gone back up to where they used to be before they got kind of cheap (uh, less expensive).
I'd check eBay and Ashfords for best prices for new ones.
Invicta has no effect on Glycine, complete nonsense Invicta negatively affects Glycine. They just give Glycine the funding to continue to make great watches. Some a bit too big in my opinion. But, still, overall the Glycine catalog is tamed, cool and classy. And, they are still made in same Swiss factory as they always have been. I've had nothing but great quality before and after the Invicta purchase of the brand.
Yeah, check Glycintennial website. It's a great source for Glycine history and many of it's models.
That's what they call it. I am mean it's not true vintage from the 1950s. But, the design is original and theirs. Pretty much little has change from the original vintage models. Just more sizes and colors and updated movement are some of the basic updates to their heritage model
I couldn't seem to reply or add a comment to the Welcome post. So, I'll just do it here. Name is Wing. Just a simple watch enthusiast just like the rest of you here, I imagine. Figure I'd drop first w...

Great strap combo! Really love this watch - has a such distinct identity and design from Glycine.

Yes. Pretty underrated. But, I think that's why I liked it so much as it's not that mainstream as many other GMT style watches.
Agreed, these are pretty swell pieces of wrist wear..mine say hello!!!..
Love the combo! Great shots too.

Curious on how it got the moniker “the cheif” 🤔

Not 100% certain, but because the Chief model was designated for the Navy, I suspect it might be one or both of the reasons below.
