A watch (or watches) that you can't imagine not being in your collection?

Is there a watch (or watches) that you can't imagine not being in your collection? There are some I feel fairly certain about. Then there are the even fewer I am 100% undoubtedly certain about. One of them is a Glycine Airman. I just love the original design and history. It's an underdog in the genre overshadowed by Rolex GMT Master, even though it did drop it's shadow into the GMT watch market first before the big R did. Basically unchanged for over almost 70 years now(?), to say I've gone through a good number of Airmans would not be a lie. My favorite version and will definitely keep is this particular one. I will transition into a bit more about these pics and the subject of my post...

Rolling off a Glycine themed post, I go from sea to air with the Airman.. or, more specifically, The Chief, reference GL0412 "Purist" version. I can't deny the radiant anthracite dial with he blued hands is a great combo. I think it works pretty decent with the subdued tones of The Watch Steward strap I have on it today.. I forget the color it is called.. I want to say tan. But, it looks more like a dusty earth tone.. maybe even a bit taupe in tonality.

My Giorgetto.

This will never leave my collection. I love everything about it.

It’s a Seiko ft. Giugiaro Design reedition of an obscure line from the 80’s thought for cyclists, hence the slight angle on the case towards the wearer and the rotated dial.

This colour in fine sandblasted metal was never released in the 80’s and some years ago they released it as a JDM limited edition with a metal bracelet as an evolution of the original design.

This is my pride and joy. I have more expensive and more capable watches in my collection but this is truly especial to me.

I love Giorgetto Giugiaro’s work in and beyond the automotive industry (he also penned the Nikon F3 that I own). This speaks to me in a dialect like no other watch I have come across thus far.

Nice. I owned a Giugiaro designed "Ripley" re-issue for a short time, SCED035. I love the industrial asymmetrical design. And, the fact it was in perhaps my favorite sequel in the Aliens franchise was a bonus, too. The matte finish and use or subtle accent colors of yellow and orange were unlike any other from that particular model line.

I love that dial on the Ripley.

It reminds me the speedometers Jeager used to do for cars back in the 80’s.

Giugiaro‘s brilliance was really original and edgy.
