This is my dad’s watch.

He died 9 years ago and although time has dulled the pain of losing him, I still miss him. His watch has a superpower though. It reflects all of my emotions back to me when I least expect it. It can be overwhelming.

Despite facing extreme challenges throughout his life, my dad did everything he could to support me and my success. That’s what inspires me to make him proud.

I’ve navigated most of my life with clarity and confidence–even in the ups and downs. But this fuzzy moment I’m going through has pushed me into unfamiliar levels of discomfort and frustration. But they say it’s always darkest before the dawn, right?

That’s why I get excited by making progress every day, knowing it brings me closer to honoring my dad and his legacy.

Very sorry to hear you lost your father, what an absolutely treasured and irreplaceable item.

I lost my grandfather to covid in 2020 who was very very close to me. I have his omega constellation that he wore everyday during his working life.

It fills me with so much comfort and happiness wearing it knowing it was part of him going about his everyday life. It’s such a warm feeling isn’t it.

Thank you. It's so cool that you wear the watch! I keep his watch in my caddy where I see it every day but I also printed a photo of it that is framed in our house. It's interesting how a photo of the watch, versus the watch itself, can have multiple meanings for my family. It reminds us of him, but also of me and my relationship to him, and yet also there's a brightness to it because my family knows how much watches bring me joy.

Thank you for sharing your story.

It's a very special thing to have a watch with so much emotion wrapped up inside it.

I'm guessing the picture is of your dad rather than you? It's wonderful. So much warmth in that face

Indeed. That’s my dad on Christmas Day many years ago.
