40th Anniversary Edition - Gold Flake

I've been missing a gold watch on my wrist since I sold my Seiko SNXL72. So when I first saw these announced I immediately was drawn to the gold flake look. I'm not sure I could pull the polished gold from other G-Shocks so I knew I'd love to try it on. When I got to the AD and saw it in the display case I was a little disappointed. I didn't think I was going to end up liking it. But I tried it on anyway and walked over to the full length mirror and immediately knew I wanted it.

I love a few things about this watch–which helped offset the fact that it was way more expensive than any other G-Shock I've ever bought. The fact that it's 40th anniversary is cool but I mostly like that it's not really for everyone. Some people hate it and that's alright. I really dig that they pulled off this texture of being shiny and matte all at once. The feel on my skin is tactile but smooth. At around 160g it has a solid weight to it without feeling like it's wiggling on my wrist.

I'm very happy with my purchase, although I'm less than 24 hours in! I mean I wore it to bed last night and was comfortable so I'd say it's a good start.
