Back from servicing

Just got my Seiko Alpinist back from a service. So far she's ticking well!

Hey that’s looking great, may I ask where did you take it, was it seiko?

My SARB017 is stopping randomly and either I swap the movement which I’m capable of or get an experienced watch maker to service?

Hi Bal61, My first thought was to go to Seiko and after explaining the issue and sending emails they wanted to replace the movement. As the watch has sentimental value I really wanted to get it repaired. Seiko said that it would cost £200 to replace the movement. So I went to a local watchmaker instead and they have serviced the movement and pressure tested for £220. So I'm really happy with the result and the issue was that there was some dried up oil around the pivot wheel. So that could be a possible issue with yours and it just needs a service. When I told Seiko that it would stop ticking and after a light nudge it would restart, their immediate go to was to replace the movement.

Couldn’t get my hands on one for a decent price before it was discontinued so I built my bronze seiko mod based off of the 017 instead.

Nice looks cool I like the bronze bezel and the lume is really bright. I like the modifications you do. I got my Seiko alpinist a few years ago luckily before it was properly discontinued. I ordered it from Japan.

Love the vintage look.
