Found this lovely little pocket watch at an estate sale today for a measely $50. Its an Admiral (a brand name for some watches made by Tacy Watch Company) with a very simple case, almost entirely worn away enamel, and a minimally decorated swiss movement.
Were there some more elegant Walthams and Hamiltons? Yes, but the size and price of this one caught my eye. There was even a particularly well cared for Elgin railroad watch, but I did not want to dip too heavily into the watch fund this time around.
Its my first pocket watch and I wanted to dip my toes in and this seemed to fit the bill! It will live at my desk in my office, ticking away next to my Bulova wall clock. I may get a chain for it somewhere down the line, but a little stand to display it is much more likely.

Come on, get a chain and pocket the watch!

Nice find and entry into pocket watches.
The more you know, thanks for the heads up! The dial is a bit loose, and I think I may be able to tighten it back in place with a bit of research. I will write a follow up post if I decide to do a bit of work on it.
