What was your first watch?

What was your first watch? Or gateway drug as it’s now come to be known. 😂

For me, a trip to London in my early teens saw me fall hard for this G-Shock “G-Cool” GT000 in a little boutique and spending all my birthday money and pocket money on it.

What’s yours?

My first watch as a child growing up on the Jersey shore in the early nineties was a digital Freestyle ‘shark’ watch. Which was basically uniform for preteens in every beach town in the US.

My first watch as a young adult, a watch I wanted and was excited for was a Movado Museum in the early 00s. I don’t wear it anymore but I still have it and keep a battery in it.

Then in 2015 or so I got an Apple Watch which reminded me that I like wearing watches. Got tired of all the baggage that comes with eventually but they’re great tools.

A few years later I was given a Shinola and I really like it, still knowing little of the watch ‘world.’

Then I bought my first mechanical watch, a Brew Retromatic and I was now a ‘collector.’

They all feel like firsts in their own way.

100% agree on the apple watch story here! Had a similar experience wearing my brothers apple watch for a while which got me into looking for a mechanical watch for myself

Yeah. I think a lot of us got sort of re-interested in watches by the Apple Watch. They’re great if that’s what you want, I just don’t want all that anymore.

Happy to admit the new Ultra got me back into wearing apple watches🤪One of the most bad ass tool watched there is and unlike all the previous models it can last a few days

The first watch I ever bought myself. A cheap piece of junk - folded links, stamped clasp. It was terrible. But I was 13 and didn't know any better. My first adult watch was a massive improvement.
