What should I do with a brand new Timex Giorgio Galli S1 with misaligned hands?

I’ve been trying to buy a Timex Giogiro Galli S1 (I say trying because Timex has sent me two defective watches). The first one that I received had a bent crown stem and I immediately returned it for a refund. The second one I received initially looked fine but after wearing it for a couple days, I noticed that the hour and minute hands were misaligned. The hour hand doesn’t align with the marker until 4 minutes past the hour. Both watches also have the noisiest rotor I’ve ever encountered and it sounds like a miniature rainstick on my wrist when I move my hand. This is a $450 watch and this level of quality control is what I’d expect from a dollar store watch.

I really wanted this watch and I’m not sure what to do next. I can send it back to Timex and reorder, again, but am worried that I’d just be sent another defective watch. I was also thinking that since the misalignment is so minor I could just have a watch repair shop fix it or fix it myself. Or I could just give up and buy a watch from a company with quality control that isn’t a joke.

What do you think I should do?

Return it and get something else. So many microbrands to choose from for that money, I am sure you will find a fitting replacement to it.

Yea at that price I would just go with something else.

I’ve been trying to upload photos to the poll but the app seems to be glitching

Voted B. I love timex and this is a good looking piece but I think there are so many other watches to buy at that price just leave the bad experience behind imo

I guess I should clarify, I really do love the design of this watch and I haven’t seen anything like it elsewhere. The case, crystal, and jewel set in the dial are probably my favorite designs of anything I own. Head-on is probably the watch’s least attractive angle. Here’s an angled shot:

You have tried twice and they have let you down. Move on to something else.

in the 2010's I've bought a skeleton 🦴 automatic watch from China for 10 dollars, it had less problems than many watches I see people here defending. I would have sent that watch back and then proceed to never buy from them.

(the watch had a rather unpleasant end, one springbar broke and it fell to the ground, the spring inside unraveled, and even the case back broke, but that was a though mf. it was my GADA watch for a year or two, took showers with it, took it swimming, nice thing for 10$)

I wouldn’t take it to any old watchmaker. I believe the movement is front loaded so you can’t just take the caseback off.

Otherwise it would be easy enough to do it yourself and re-set the hand stack at 12 as I have done with many mod builds in the past. I used to have a 38mm Galli S1 with the green dial.

Nice watch and hands were aligned perfectly but eventually a speck of dust appeared on the dial and it was a bastard to get rid of it. Had to use an air blower through the crown stem…. Because.. you can’t remove the movement from the rear of the case. Send it back.

Interesting, I wasn’t aware of the movement being front loaded. The case does have a slot on the side of the case at the 12-o’clock position that is used to remove the top of the case and the crystal. Ben’s Watch Club did a YouTube video on it because his arrived with a defective, excessively large slot (there seems to be a pattern with this watch). Seems like this would actually make it easier to remove the top part of the case and access the hands and dial, if you have the right tool. Unless there’s something I’m missing?

I know the BWC video you are referring to - iirc he bought the green dial too.

It’s actually that video which led me to believe the front loading thing, but by the time that video came out I’d already sold the watch. I still think the Galli is the best looking Timex range they have, but the prices have crept up enough that it’s Tissot PRX money now. 🧐
