Picked up this 70s Timex at a goodwill for $4. Haven’t put a battery in it yet, but how did I do?

At $4 anything you buy you will do great!
Awesome. You can probably flip it for 2000% once you put a battery in it assuming it still runs. You can also probably polish the crystal a bit as well Great find.
I don't doubt your 70's age but on what is it based? I concur that it is hard to go too wrong at this price point and Timex is usually solid, this one is cleanly styled and it should run decently. Crystal needs lots of work or replacement and there is a bit of brassing, but for age and price, total winner. The band is probably worth the $4.
