Suitable for Ocean Diving?

Going on a cruise this next week and I wanted to bring a good watch for diving (around 30 meters). I have this Addiesdive quartz diver with an FKM rubber strap on it. I’ve worn it in the shower and pool, but how do you think it holds up against any depth? Because I know it can’t possibly go 200 meters… right?

If I do not choose this watch I am probably gonna go out and buy another G-Shock which I know is good for diving purposes. Between a classic DW-5600 and another classic DW-6900. I already have a yellow Casioak and a GWM-5610-U which I refuse to bring in salt water. As well as a 10ish year old G-Shock that has some leakage problems. So I’m left to buy another… can’t be the worst problem to have in the world.

So to sum it up, Addiesdive yay or nay. If nay, 5600 or 6900?

If you have a caseback tool make sure that caseback is on tight as well as any other screw down mechanism on the watch.

I swam 9ft deep with the Neymar Dive watch which claims 1000m LOL 😂 Good luck 🤙🏽

I’ve had no issues swimming/snorkeling/shallow diving (<10m) with my Addiesdive/Steeldive beaters. However, my go to diving beaters have always been the Casio divers, first with my AMW-320R “Arnie” during my research diving days, then later with the Casio Duros. I always travel with a Casio Duro, especially if any water activities are involved. I agree that you should make sure the stew down crown and case back are well seated.

Long as the seals are good, you're good. Making a case water resistant is actually not that hard with today's manufacturing processes.

What you pay for is that little shield, Greek letter, or crown on the dial.

Short of actual pressure testing, if the watch is relatively new, should be good to go.

Personally I'd put some type of single pass or NATO strap on it, just to make sure you don't lose the watch should a springbar fail, but that's me.

I've seen people put a number of these more established Chinese brands in pressure tanks and seen them hold up.

I think there's a misconception that if it's Chinese made that it won't hold up. However, Casio makes a majority of their watches in China. I think it comes down to build quality. If it seems solid, you should be good.

Obviously, there are brands I wouldn't trust in such conditions because some of those deals are a little too good to think they're good quality.

Side note: you should also check out YouTube videos where people did hydro mods to a Casio F91W and took it to 200M.

Only one way to find out! Try it out and report back 😂

I've wore an Addiesdive Willard in a hot bath without problems if that's anything to go on 😂 I can't say the same about a Lorus that claimed 100m 😅
