Which Seiko Turtle should I get?

Hi! Planning out the purchase of my first Seiko dive watch in the coming few months for my birthday. I first got a Steeldive SD-1970 "Willard" in black two years ago and afterwards a Citizen NY0085-86E "Coke" last December. Since I got the Steeldive, I've always had a fascination for Seiko's cushion case divers and now I am met with two options, either the black Turtle on a rubber strap or the blue Turtle on a bracelet. For either option, I am plan to take it off the stock strap/bracelet ASAP and put it in a Nato/FKM rubber strap.

SRP777/SRPE93(Black)

Pros:

+Black is the original color, and as a watch history buff, this makes the color appealing to me.

+Versatile color

Cons:

-Boring

-All my other divers are black

SRP773

Pros

+Good for the collection as I do not currently own a blue watch

+This particular blue is gorgeous under various lighting conditions

+Comes on a bracelet which is nice to have

+Slightly more affordable but not by a very significant amount

Cons

-Blue is not a bad color but black (for me) is just THE color for the Turtle

From a more rational perspective, blue is the way to go as I like the color and that it comes with a bracelet which is handy. However, something is telling me to get the black one as it is the color that it first came in went it was introduced.

I have the black and a King Turtle in blue…the black Turtle is a super comfortable strap monster…I don’t think it’s boring at all once you start playing around with strap options

Good point! And btw, that's a great strap.

How about the grenade green dial of the SRPE05? 😀

Another great possibility, what's stopping me so far is that it's rather pricey in some places (about 600USD), hoping to get a good price under 500USD.

If you're planning on trying lots of NATO's then black dial is the way to go. I've got the black & the green Willards, the black is worn more just because I can bung it on any colour NATO and it works, the green is very limited (same experience with my one blue dialed watch too)

Both are great, but black gets my vote.

For NATO's I recommend Watchgecko Zuludiver and CWC - both are proper mil-spec sewn in buckle, cheap and comfortable.

Good luck & look forward to seeing your birthday wrist shots 👍🏻👍🏻

I recently bought the black version. Simple, clean dial and just looks amazing!

I've got the SRP779J1 Pepsi bezel versions & ever since buying an original 6309 a few years ago, I wish I'd bought the SRP777 as these just look better in black imo
