Midlife crisis i'd say. Decided that I should have a watch. Bought one. Bought another one. Soon it will be 100 watches.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
some Citizen with LCD display (long lost), then an Automatic Swatch (still in my posession, broken case), some cheap no name quartz 3-hand.
Then ~30 yrs no watch at all.
Started with Seiko SLA019
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
No. I have many that I imported from overseas, this was interesting the first time. Now it's routine.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Slow down. Watch collecting is a marathon and not a sprint.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Seiko. I am a single brand collector.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Patek Philippe 5326G-001
Somewhat more reasonable: Patek Philippe 5226G-001
Both are increadibly beautiful watches. Totally out of reach, i.e. true grail watches.
Reasonable: Grand Seiko SBGH303
A superb dial. Limited to 100 units; likely not obtainable - or with a very steep premium.
Waiting for a Grand Seiko, Spring Drive with power reserve indicator on the backside (!), titanium case and a interesting dial. Available/obtainable for someone located in Europe.
