Read a quote the other day - something like”there nothing you can buy in a shopping mall that you’ll care for in 10years time”. Really liked it and think it’s very true in many ways. Except for watches! Made me think how curious this hobby/ interest is. What got you into watch collecting? Is it the Art or Science of something else entirely?

Childhood. Just always had watches, didn't consider myself to be a collector,or even realise it was a hobby until I stumbled upon Urban Gentry on YouTube in 2012/3.
Started with a drugstore Timex when I was a kid. It just progressed from there. Never questioned why or really cared. I just went with the flow. Still do.
I like watches.
Uncle showed me the glow of his Casio which got me into digital
Wife got me a Sistem 51 by Swatch which got me into Automatic
This little guy here was the start
Still here and will always be
Sign of the times i guess. Back when people actually shopped in malls we bought quite a few items we still have, use and enjoy many many years later. Now it's Amazon....
High end kitchen knives
All Clad pots and pans
Reed and Barton flatware
Le Creuset cookware
Christmas dishware
Riedel glassware
Kitchen Aid stand mixer
I also bought an Omega Seamaster Professional in a local mall many years ago.
Started with the Timex Camper mechanical watch I bought from a Woolworth.
Late 80’s.
