Been dancing around watches since my dad gave me a Seiko after one of his Japan trips. First real beauty was my Rado Cobra NCC404 gifted to me by a favorite aunt in the early 70s. I’ve learned to appreciate many brands, the delight of micro brands and largest manufacturers. Also, that price doesn’t mean you can’t find a stunner at a fraction of the big players. Just enjoying the hobby and happy to participate.
Wearing my Fratello X Straum Jan Mayen "Red Lava" piece. Probably the coolest and most vibrant dial I've ever seen. Integrated bracelet and perfect 39...

Read your post several times. The Luxury Well’s link is not active, actually “page not found.” Can you summarize for me? From what I have read elesewhere, the Japan retailer must quantify the watch’s components to assess duties. Did you contact customs? Who did you pay, the carrier? Thank you for any intel.

There’s a lot of misconceptions about bronze watches, patina and “green” skin. I have the Tudor Black Bay boutique bronze edition and I love it. It’s stunning. There’s a special alloy coating on steel on the underside of the case that sits against the skin, you’ll not be discolored. Regarding patina; I polish mine regularly with a jeweler’s cloth and it looks near new. It takes about 10 minutes every few months and is quite relaxing and satisfying. You can also sit it in a denture tablet bath for 30-60 minutes. Works well. Those who complain need to pay more attention to its properties or care. Of course some do want a patina. In my view, the Tudor bronze looks like soft gold. It’s quite a beautiful watch with a chocolate dial and vibrant lume. You have to buy it at a Tudor Boutique (new) but the wait should not be crazy. I think it’s one of their most remarkable, and undiscovered, releases.
I’m getting one. Read multiple reviews and traded emails with Fratello. The fact that such a well respected company such as Fratello is a partner on the red eased any concerns. There’s a lot for me to like; killer fumé dial, crown guards, sporty finish, respectable movement, integrated bracelet, and plenty of lume. Bracelet does not have a micro adjustment and others nitpick at different things but it checks virtually everything I’m looking for. Straum wrote me back, took a day but I’m satisfied this is worth my investment. I don’t see these unloaded or crashing on the secondary market. Why? They’re a new micro brand yes, but the Fratello X Straum red was one year in development. Regarding the color, Fratello agreed that the video can look washed out but they, and several YouTube reviewers, told me the dial is blood red vibrant. I’m pretty psyched to be wearing mine even with a six month expected wait.
