My state of the collection!

These are my pieces after two years of collecting, digging, selling and of course enjoying! My rule for not-hoarding: It has to fit in my watch box! Currently there are ten pieces, I‘m thinking about upgrading to a 12-slot box :)

  • Seiko 5 Sports SRPF70 Naruto Edition

So I want to start with the watch that started it all: My dear old Seiko Naruto! I got this piece for celebrating the passing of an important exam four years ago. I really liked the open caseback, seeing all those little screws, gears and wheels. I love this piece still to this day! I switched the nato strap with an Eichmüller leather strap.

  • IWC Timezoner „Le petit prince“

This is my grailwatch, in my opinion one of the most beautiful pilots watches to exist. Those polished edges on the case, the big onion crown, the gorgeous blue ceramic timezoner bezel… this is one of those pieces that I immediately fell in love with! The Timezoner houses one of the most beautiful movements I habe ever seen, with a little gold medaillon of the „petit prince“. Just a stunning piece that I‘ll keep for a lifetime!

  • Breitling Cosmonaute

Next comes my Breitling Cosmonaute from the 80s! So this is a real space watch, with a 24-Hour-Dial and the classic sliderule-bezel. If there is one thing I absolutely love about watchcollecting, it‘s learning about the history of different brands and models. One of the most interesting pilots-/spacewatches is the Breitling Navitimer, an icon of the watchworld and one of the most important chronographs, alongside with the Omega Speedmaster and the Rolex Daytona.

  • Glycine Airman „The Chief“

I really felt the itch of a GMT-Watch, so I dug in the rabbit hole… What I found was this beautiful Glycine! Historically important, modest size, beautiful-looking! So I pulled the trigger and since then, I didn‘t regret it! I like the locking mechanism of the 24-hour bezel (one of the first watches to feature one!) and that the look of it was kept similar to the original one from the 50s!

  • Casio G-Shock DW-5600E

This is my toughest watch: The iconic casio square! I wear this watch all the time when doing all kinds of sports! This thing is just unbreakable as a beater and, again, has a very important history!

  • Casio f91w

What should I say about this watch that hasn‘t been said a thousand times? It‘s one of the best bang-for-buck-watches ever! A piece that could hold its place in a collection full of Rolex, Pateks and APs, appreciated by the most die-hard watchsnobs!

  • Zeppelin „100 Jahre“ Chronograph

I bought this stunning little chronograph on board ln a flight to London, where I wore it the whole time. It just has this art-deco, vintage vibe, that I‘d never seen before in an affordable chronograph. That silver dial with sunburst subdials and this little touch of color on the telemeter skala! Just a nice grab-and-go quartz.

  • Vintage Omega Constellation

This is the quintessential vintage watch: Beautiful redgold case, stunning, coffe-golden patina, sharp hourmarkers, charming plastic crystal. I can just imagine what this little thing must have experienced troughout its long life! Now I have the honor to wear this Genta icon, preserving it for the next generation…

  • Cortébert family heirloom

I‘ve got this passed down from my grandmother. It originally was gifted to my great-great-grandfather for 25 years of loyalty in his company, 1947! This is the oldest wristwatch I have, and runs until this day with excellent accuracy. Don‘t know anything about the brand though…

  • Swatch Swiss Art „Animal Wheel“

I‘ve bought this Swatch on eBay for a really good price, bought a leather strap for it and BOOM, here you habe a little piece of art! This watch ran in several badges, each limited to 5555 pieces. This Swatch belonged to a series from the 1990s, where Swatch collaborated with four swiss artists, each from a different region in Switzerland. Since I like art, this was a no-brainer for me! So what is special about this watch? It doesn‘t have any hour- nor minutehands! It has a wheel with (I guess…?) a little animal, indicating the approximate time.

Also one honourable mention would be my grandfather’s Omega Grand Prix pocket watch!

That‘s it! That is my first SOTC, for the year 2023!

Of course there are some warches I‘m currently stalking, for an example the KUOE Old Smith Bronze or the Cartier Santos.

How do you Crunchies like my collection?
