About Going 2 Interested 5

Super plush, super secret hidden hideaway of the Stars. FREE premium spirits, soft drinks & food provided.

Come enjoy a magical private venue inside the historic newly remodeled Hotel Figueroa Hyatt Unbound Boutique Collection nestled in the heart of downtown Los Angeles (DTLA). Adjacent to L.A. Live which houses the Grammy Museum and numerous world class bars and restaurants. Just steps away from many attractions both before and after the meetup. Due to the nature of this super secret VIP event and it's blow your mind hidden access a fairly firm head count would work best in planning this event. Hope you can come out for a magical event and play City of Angels Baller. This is a Southern California event you don't want to miss. Gifts & prizes? Of course!

Meet your host

Jack McClary

I prefer in person gatherings over social media dialog and have a soft spot for vintage watches.

Ignore the "two spots left" notation as the platform is not letting me edit out a guest limit. Would really Love to see Crunchers I've met at other WC meetups again as well as welcoming new watch buddies. @Half_Life @SurferJohn @street.credor @AlohaBrah21 etc and the wonderful San Diego crunch crew.

You KNOW you'd be the guest of honor! Hope you consider coming on up. I booked a couple of nights at the Fig so I won't have to commute in a potentially altered state.

I wish I could do it! But, I’m gone from home all during the week for work. So it ain’t gonna fly with the wife if I suggest taking a day to go nerd out over watches during the weekend!

I wish, though!

I have marked interested for now. Will confirm soon... Family problems🙄

I am sorry, I can't make it. Have to take care of the kids.

By coincidence it rained here in L.A. early this morning which means you qualify for a rain check!👍

Would love to attend if more are going, is there a rough estimate of attendees right now?

So far just a handful. I invited enthusiasts from two other watch groups, OCChronogroup and COCAB. About 9 total have said they were interested but only a few have confirmed for sure. Perhaps the venue being downtown is scaring a few off but I've stayed there many times and it's safe and plush. I will throw out a reminder later in the week.

Will there be a dress code? What should I bring? (Assuming I attend?)

Smart casual is fine for our event. I'm providing food and a variety of beverages but feel free to bring a dessert, craft beer etc if you must though it's absolutely not required.

If you commit you'll need to message me an RSVP because you'll need my phone number once you arrive at the Fig to gain access to our area.

It is safe to bring watches to share as our suite occupies it's own floor of the Hotel and is behind two locked doors. Hope to see you!

I mentioned it another thread but the CEO for Bausele Watches RSVP'd. Bausele is an Australian microbrand (💪) that primarily makes military and sport watches and is also doing some wonderful things with U.S. veterans.

Hopefully he won't flake. All too common in L.A. I'm afraid.😬 The RSVP's are really rolling in now so it should be good times regardless.

This is the booze being provided so if you want something that isn't here BYOB.

FAQ's are rolling in with the RSVPs:

Though this is my first hosting of a watch gathering I've organized other events including ones at this Hotel. I have no idea how many of the 20 or so RSVP's so far will follow through but it's shaping up to be well attended.

Our specific venue is VERY safe as it takes place behind two locked doors in a hidden VIP area on our very own floor of the Hotel. Those that are comfortable laying out watches for others to view can do so on a table beneath a security camera monitored by the hotel security staff. Others may bring watches to share but keep them on their person and yet others can just fly what's on their wrist. No pressure to share watches whatsoever.

There will be free food, alcohol and soft drinks until they run out. For those that are set on bringing something I suggest a desert or six pack or bottle of wine though it's not required.

I'm being brutal about admitting only those that RSVP to maintain the security of the event and to plan the food and beverages accordingly.

To those insisting they will play it by ear and not RSVP please enjoy the view of the Hotel Fig from the sidewalk while showing that nice homeless dude your shiny Rolex.

When you RSVP you will receive my cell phone number in order to gain access when you arrive. This is the only way you can be directed to the unmarked entrance where someone will guide you in.

Please introduce yourself to others as often as necessary. Many of us have never met and/or use alternate names.

Drinking and driving are not encouraged as the consequences are often tragic. Please consider an Uber, designated driver or booking a room if you want to get your swerve on. Several of us have booked rooms already though I can't guarantee current availability specifically at the Fig.

There is plenty of lodging in the immediate area, some cheaper, a few that are more expensive. There are also MANY things to do and see within a block of the Fig.

The Fig is adjacent to L.A. Live where there is metered street parking, hotel parking via the rear alley (most convenient but pricey), a paid lot on Figueroa between the Hotel and The Famous Original Pantry and a paid lot around the corner by the car wash.

The Hotel can be entered from the front on Figueroa or via the alley in the back near the hotel parking and pool.

Feel free to ask more questions as I want Crunchers to feel comfortable attending and some may be apprehensive about visiting downtown Los Angeles.
