NH36 Date wheel issue

So I think I messed up my date, does anyone know what the issue is?

I backed up the time on my watch from roughly 7pm to 1pm. I know this can mess up the movement. now the date changes faster than it should and is inconsistent.

Does anyone know what is messed up and how to fix it?

Can I fix it with a simple day date wheel replacement?

Nh36 movement is just over £20 from Aliexpress.

Are you overthinking this, staring at it as it approaches and passes midnight. They don't complete the change for some time, it's not an instant click.

On the off chance your date wheel is actually not broken, I recommend you try the following:

  1. Pull the crown to second position and rotate the crown clockwise away from you till it hits the 6 o’clock position (it doesn’t matter if it is 6am/pm for now)

  2. Push the crown back to first position and set the day and date for the day before (rotate clockwise to change the day, anti clockwise to change the date)

  3. Pull the crown to second position and rotate the crown clockwise away from you till it crosses midnight into the next day (check for accurate day and date change), then continue rotating until you set it to the current time today.

Try these steps and let me know if things work out. If the day and/or date is still running fast after trying these out for a few days, there is probably something wrong with your day/date wheel. Try to avoid setting the time between 9pm to 3am as your watch is likely in the process of moving the gear chain to change the date. Hence why I listed step 1 specifically, where setting the date at either 6am/pm is definitely safe.

I must also apologise in case this is absolutely basic stuff to you and there is something seriously wrong with your watch. If that is the case, please send it in for servicing!

Yeah I might just replace it if it’s seriously messed up.

No, the date changed at 2 pm

No, the date changed at 2 pm

Wind the hands forward and make a note of what time it reads when the date changes and then when the day changes, repeat this and see if the date and day change at the same times.
